Which Filter Do I Need

Watch this video to learn how to choose the right Wolverine Filter for your application. Wolverine Filters are activated carbon septic vent filters designed to remove septic and sewer gas odor at the source.

Not sure which septic vent filter you need? This video explains your options and how to choose the right Wolverine Filter.

What This Video Covers

In this video, Andrew McGibbon of Industrial Odor Control explains how to choose the right Wolverine Filter for residential septic vent odor control.

Wolverine Filters are activated carbon vent filters designed to remove septic and sewer gas odor at the source as air exits the vent pipe.

How Wolverine Filters Work

All Wolverine residential filters use activated carbon to remove odor-causing gases such as hydrogen sulfide (H2S) and other volatile organic compounds.

As air passes through the carbon bed, these compounds attach to the carbon in a process known as adsorption, preventing odor from escaping into your yard or around your home.

All residential Wolverine Filters are designed to handle up to 3 CFM, which is well within the airflow range of typical household septic vent systems.

Overview of Residential Wolverine Filters

Industrial Odor Control manufactures four types of residential septic vent filters. Each uses the same activated carbon technology but differs in construction, installation method, and ideal use case.

Wolverine Cub

The Wolverine Cub is an economical residential filter made from Schedule 30 PVC. It holds approximately one pound of activated carbon and installs easily without tools or glue.

Because it is not glued to the pipe, it can be removed easily when it is time to replace the carbon.

Wolverine HD (Heavy-Duty)

The Wolverine HD is constructed from Schedule 40 PVC and is designed for durability. It is ideal for locations where the vent pipe may be exposed to impact, harsh weather, or colder conditions.

The HD includes a built-in end-of-service-life indicator that changes color to signal when the carbon needs to be replaced.

Linear Roof Filter (LRF)

The Linear Roof Filter (LRF) is designed for a more streamlined, vertical roofline appearance. It extends upward from the vent pipe and is available in sizes from 1.5" through 6".

The LRF also includes an end-of-service-life indicator to help monitor carbon performance.

Inline Wolverine Filter (WVI)

The Inline Wolverine (WVI) is installed inside the vent system rather than at the roofline. It is typically placed in an attic or along the vent pipe where it is protected from the elements.

This makes it especially well suited for cold climates, where freezing conditions may affect external filters. The inline model can also be insulated for additional protection.

Maintenance and Carbon Replacement

The HD, LRF, and Inline Wolverine filters are designed with a 2-inch fill port, allowing you to easily replace the carbon by removing the cap, emptying the old media, and adding new carbon.

All Wolverine Filters are designed for long-term use—only the carbon needs to be replaced as it becomes saturated.

Which Filter Should You Choose?

  • Choose the Cub for an economical residential solution
  • Choose the HD for durability and added protection
  • Choose the LRF for a streamlined roof-mounted design
  • Choose the Inline (WVI) for hidden or cold-climate installations
